Rightmove Report sees Colchester in the top 50 Happiest Places to Live in Britain

Colchester featured in the top 50 happiest places to live in Britain according to a survey by Rightmove estate agents.  When comparing the results in the Eastern region the town came 4th.  The survey placed Colchester above regional centres such as Cambridge (54th nationally and 7th regionally) and Norwich (59th nationally and 8th regionally).

More than 22,000 people responded to Rightmove’s ‘Happy at Home’ index which asks how happy they are where they live based on 12 happiness factors.  These range from how safe residents feel and how friendly the neighbours are to how good the local services are, the level of community spirit and the quality of cultural activities in the area.

The University of Essex, based in Colchester, is once again ranked in the global elite for the social sciences after being ranked 48th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2020 thanks to the strength of its research and international profile.

Colchester Jumps 34 Places in the National 2019 Hot Office Location Index

Property Week has revealed this year’s top office locations outside London.  Previously Colchester had come 82nd in the UK rankings, however the 2019 ratings placed it 48th.

Location strategist and data analyst experts CACI have put together the Hot 100 UK Office Locations, a ranking of the best new and secondary office locations across the UK, excluding London. To compile the ranking CACI assesses 373 UK locations, taking into account a number of variables. Each location is then ranked on each metric and assigned an A to E grade – A being most favourable.

University of Essex Gains Top Gold Rating in Teaching Excellence Framework

The University of Essex is celebrating its recent TEF Gold rating from the UK Government. The TEF Panel judged that the University of Essex delivers consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students. It is of the highest quality found in the UK. Out of the 134 higher education institutions who took part in the review, 43 are Gold, 67 Silver and 24 Bronze.
